Baptist Health and Seale Harris Clinic will anchor the Riverwalk health center

Baptist Health and Seale Harris Clinic have signed leases as lead tenants of the planned Riverwalk Health & Wellness Center near Valleydale Road and I-65. Baptist Health expects to take about 25 percent of the building, and the center is expected to open in early 2028.

In August we said Riverwalk Village was the development we would watch most closely, because it is in Riverchase rather than near it (our August 28 post). On October 7 it had its first concrete tenant news in some time.

What was announced

Baptist Health and Seale Harris Clinic have signed leases to become lead tenants at the planned Riverwalk Health & Wellness Center in Hoover (ABC 33/40, October 7, 2026). The announcement came from the Hoover Healthcare Authority, the City of Hoover and the developer, CR Endeavors (Bham Now, October 7, 2026).

  • Baptist Health is expected to initially occupy about 25 percent of the center across one and a half floors, with a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center and a multi-specialty clinic (ABC 33/40, October 7, 2026)
  • Seale Harris Clinic is described as a Central Alabama primary care and family medicine practice founded in 1922 that offers same-day appointments (ABC 33/40, October 7, 2026)
  • Opening: expected in early 2028 (ABC 33/40, October 7, 2026)
  • Location: near Valleydale Road and Interstate 65 (ABC 33/40, October 7, 2026)

Bham Now describes Riverwalk as a 90-acre mixed-use district that includes 450,000 square feet of existing corporate offices (Bham Now, October 7, 2026). Mayor Nick Derzis said, “Having Baptist Health and Seale Harris Clinic commit to Riverwalk is a strong sign this project is delivering on its promised potential” (Bham Now, October 7, 2026).

What we could not confirm

Neither report gives the total size of the health center, its construction cost or a construction start date. In August we noted that a different surgical group had been named in connection with the surgery center and the certificate of need (our August 28 post). These reports do not address how that relates to Baptist Health’s surgery center, so we will not connect the two. We will update when the city or the developer publishes more.
