On the calendar: a market this week, and three dates for October

Vintage Market Days is at the Finley Center September 24 through 26. Then Taste of Hoover on October 15, which runs its shuttle parking out of the Trader Joe's lot here in Riverchase, the Mayor's Ball on October 17, and the YMCA trunk-or-treat on October 24.

A short one. Four dates worth putting on the refrigerator, all of them from dated sources, none of them requiring you to drive far.

This week: Vintage Market Days, September 24 to 26

Vintage Market Days of Birmingham returns to the Finley Center, 5508 Stadium Trace Parkway, for “Cozy and Collected,” with more than 125 dealers across more than 100,000 square feet, entirely indoors (Hoover Sun, September 19, 2026).

  • Thursday, September 24, Early Buying Event, 3 to 8 p.m. Presale $15 plus tax and fees, $20 at the gate.
  • Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26, general admission, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Presale $12 plus tax and fees, $15 at the gate.
  • Children 12 and younger are free. Parking and bag hold are free throughout (Hoover Sun, September 19, 2026).

October 15: Taste of Hoover, and the Riverchase connection

Taste of Hoover is Thursday, October 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Aldridge Gardens. One ticket covers food and beverage samples through the evening, and regular free admission to Aldridge Gardens is suspended during the event (City of Hoover, August 28, 2026).

The part that concerns us directly: parking is available in the Aldridge Gardens lot, and additional shuttle parking will be offered from the bottom of the Trader Joe’s parking lot in the Riverchase Shopping Center, at the intersection of Highway 31 and Lorna Road (City of Hoover, August 28, 2026).

So if you live here, the easy move is to leave the car at Trader Joe’s and ride over. And if you were planning a grocery run that Thursday evening, now you know why that lot is full.

October 17: the Mayor’s Ball

A Heart for the Arts, the Mayor’s Ball, is Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency–The Wynfrey Hotel (City of Hoover, August 27, 2026).

October 24: the YMCA trunk-or-treat

The Hoover YMCA hosts its fifth annual trunk-or-treat as part of the Fall Festival presented by the Sandlin Foundation for Kids and Kindness, Saturday, October 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is free, and organizers expect about 600 children. As of September 20, only four trunk spaces remained for anyone wanting to host one (Hoover Sun, September 20, 2026).

A note on that last one: the coverage does not state a street address for the festival, so we are not going to supply one. The volunteer signup link in the article is the reliable place to check details.
